Lesson 1: The Jesus Life

Lesson 1: The Jesus Life

Lesson 1 of an 8 part series talks about The Jesus Life. The Apostle John was the disciple whom Jesus loved (see John 21:7). John was the writer of one of the four gospels (John) as well as 1, 2 and 3 John. Let's take a look at the book of 1 John and ask ourselves a question, “Why was this book written?” As we read through the book, we will see how the Apostle writes about certain subjects. By looking at the subjects he is writing about, we can figure out what was being taught by the false preachers. The false preachers were telling the church Jesus wasn’t the anointed one, or the Messiah. They were teaching that Jesus did not come in flesh. We can recognize that these false preachers were telling the church they no longer needed Jesus as their only Savior. They were claiming to have special access or knowledge of God. Not only are we to share with others that Jesus has come to give life and life abundantly. We are also challenged to fellowship with one another. In other words, we are to live this Jesus Life that He has given us, together. The word fellowship does not mean to just spend time with one another; it means to participate in each other’s lives. In other words, we need to communicate, partner with, and encourage each other.
