Lesson 7: The Righteous Life

Lesson 7: The Righteous Life

Lesson 7 of this 20 part series gets into living The Righteous Life. What is righteousness? Righteousness means to be right with God. When we are born again, we are adopted into God’s family. We take on the family Name in water baptism and receive a New Spirit when the Holy Spirit fills us. You are a new creature, a new person in Christ. Because we have repented and been adopted into the family, we are automatically made righteous. However, we must learn to walk in righteousness. That is why John tells us that, as God’s children, we should not practice sin or allow ourselves to be associated with the things of the Enemy. Don’t be fooled by people who tell you a little sin is ok. Look at what John tells us; “He who does right is righteous and he who does what is sinful is of the Devil!” There is nothing in the middle of this; no room for discussion. To be righteous, we must do what is right. If we do not do what is right; we are sinning. If we refuse to do what is right, then we are not the children of God. If we do not love our brother – we are not children of God. As children of God, we reject the sinful desires of the world and do not give ourselves to things that would destroy our testimony. We also demonstrate our love through generosity and kindness toward those in need. If we'll love Jesus and love our brother, we will have assurance of salvation. We seek to walk and live The Righteous Life in truth and recognize the Spirit of God at work, or the spirit of the antichrist at work.
